Initiative Aiming to Support the Enrolment of Female Students
The initiative aimed to support and encourage the enrolment of female students in schools by addressing the challenges posed by the devastating conflict during the militants' regime in Afghanistan. The education system, particularly for girls, had been severely impacted, with many girls unable to attend school due to cultural norms, early marriages, and the prohibition of female teachers. Recognising the importance of girls' education for Afghanistan's development, the programme worked to promote and enhance the quality of girls' education in Nangarhar and Laghman provinces. It focused on providing learning opportunities in civic and political education, training teachers in student-centred teaching techniques, and conducting awareness sessions for community members, parents, and religious leaders about the value of girls' education.
